If a doctor's office ever put you through to an answering service after hours, there is a reasonable chance your details passed through ConnectOnCall without you ever hearing the name. That is the awkward part of this settlement: most of the people entitled to money have no memory of the company at all.
ConnectOnCall is an after-hours answering platform used by medical practices. In early 2024 an intruder had access to it for close to three months and took data that included messages between providers and patients. About 914,138 people were notified. The company, now part of Phreesia, has agreed to a $4.95 million settlement in the Eastern District of New York without admitting wrongdoing, and Epiq is administering it.
What you can actually claim
There are two cash routes and you pick one.
Cash Payment B is the straightforward one: up to $75, no documents, no receipts, nothing to dig out of a drawer. It is reduced proportionally if enough people file to exhaust the fund, which is why our own estimate sits at roughly $40 to $75 rather than a flat number.
Cash Payment A reimburses documented out-of-pocket losses up to $5,000, but you have to prove them, and it is handled on the official settlement site rather than through us.
Separately from the cash, every claimant can take two years of CyEx dark web and medical identity monitoring. It is not an either-or against the money.
The bit people get wrong
You do not need the Unique ID from your notice letter. It is optional. If you never got a letter, or binned it, you can still file, because the administrator checks the names on claims against its own list of affected people.
What you do have to do is swear to one thing: that you contacted a healthcare provider or their office after hours at some point between May 12, 2014 and May 12, 2024. Read that sentence before you sign it. It is a sworn statement, not a checkbox.
How you get paid
The form lets you choose PayPal, Venmo or Zelle to an email address or phone number, a digital Mastercard sent by email, or a plain paper check. Bank transfer is offered on the settlement site only.
Deadlines
Claims have to be postmarked by November 2, 2026. If you are filing through Class Action Buddy, our cutoff is October 26, because we print your form and put it in the mail and that needs about a week to land.
Filing it through the app
We fill the official form in from your saved profile, you sign it on your phone, and we print it and mail it. You stay the person making the claim; we handle the paperwork and the postage. The app files Cash Payment B and the monitoring. Documented losses stay with the administrator.
