Hyundai and Kia have agreed to pay $62.1 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging defective ZF-TRW airbag control units in certain vehicles could prevent airbags from deploying in crashes.
The case, In re: ZF-TRW Airbag Control Units Products Liability Litigation (Case No. 2:19-ml-02905-JAK), was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Current and former owners/lessees of specific Hyundai and Kia model years may be eligible for reimbursements and residual payments of up to $350.
You may be eligible to file a claim if you:
Reimbursement: Out-of-pocket expenses for rental cars, towing, childcare, repairs, and lost wages.
Residual payments: Up to $350 for recalled vehicles; up to $150 for unrecalled vehicles.
Awards vary based on claim type and documentation.
