Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible to file a claim if you:

• Three conditions, all of them required. You paid for a parking session at a Metropolis lot in Tennessee between 1 July 2021 and 6 January 2026. You were wrongfully overcharged, ticketed or booted. And you have not already had a full refund from Metropolis for that session.
• The booting matters more than it sounds. Fines came either from Metropolis or from TriStar Enforcement, and the Attorney General released both companies, so a boot removal fee you paid to TriStar sits inside this settlement rather than outside it.
• You do not need to have been contacted. Some consumers were identified from Metropolis's own records and sent an email notice with a Claimant ID and an Access Code. The administrator states plainly that you can still be eligible and can still file if no email reached you.
• Check your spam folder before deciding you were not notified. The notice went out by email, not post, which is an easy one to miss.
• What went wrong at these lots is described in the agreement itself. Metropolis now has to report to the Attorney General each year on complaint volumes broken out by price discrepancies, app malfunctions and camera issues, on equipment failure rates at its camera-operated Vision Lots, and on how many charges turned out to be erroneous. One required statistic is telling: the share of consumers who had to contact Metropolis more than four times about the same charge before they got a refund.
• Metropolis denies any wrongdoing. The agreement is an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance, not a finding of liability.

How Much Can You Get?

Metropolis pays the State $6,500,000 in three equal installments, due by 15 January 2026, 15 June 2026 and 15 January 2027.

Do not read that as the amount available to claimants. The agreement says the money may be used for any purpose permitted by law at the sole discretion of the Attorney General, and it lists three things by name: reimbursement of the Attorney General's own costs, fees and expenses; restitution to eligible consumers who file valid claims; and the costs of the third-party restitution administrator. Consumer restitution is one call on the fund, not the whole of it.

No per-person figure has been published, and there is a reason it cannot be. Restitution here is tied to what you were actually charged, which is why the claim form may ask you for a receipt rather than simply counting heads.

You choose how to be paid: Venmo, PayPal, Zelle or a check. The administrator expects payments to go out in early 2027, and checks take longer to arrive than the electronic options.

There is a second, separate benefit that people keep confusing with this one. The Tennessee Parking Program is funded by Metropolis at its own expense, not out of the $6.5 million, and it is worth $2,250,000 in total credits. Eligible parkers get a promotional code redeemable for up to $15 of free parking at participating Tennessee lots, usable twice, so $30 at most. It runs until the credits are gone. Claiming restitution and using that program are different things, and the administrator says so explicitly.

How to File Your Claim

File with the administrator:

• File the electronic form at metropolisparkingsettlement.com. There is no paper route and no mailing address for claims: the administrator, Rust Consulting, takes this one online only.
• Have your Claimant ID and Access Code to hand if the email notice reached you. They make the process fastest, and the form opens by asking whether you received that notice. Answering no does not end it. The administrator is explicit that consumers who were never emailed can still file.
• Gather what you were charged. Depending on the claim you may need documentation such as a receipt, and if you have a Metropolis account your receipts are at app.metropolis.io. Dig them out before you start rather than halfway through.
• Pick your payment method on the form. Venmo, PayPal, Zelle or check.
• The deadline is Friday 9 October 2026. There is no exclusion date and no objection date here, because consumers are not parties to the agreement, and nothing in it can be enforced by anyone other than the Attorney General or Metropolis.
• Tell the administrator if your details change after you file, by emailing info@metropolisparkingsettlement.com or using the contact form on the site.
• Then wait. Payments are expected in early 2027, and the final installment from Metropolis is not due until 15 January 2027, so the timing is not an administrative delay so much as the schedule the court approved.
