SunTrust Bank has agreed to pay $240 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the bank improperly charged excessive overdraft fees on ATM and debit card transactions by reordering transactions from highest to lowest to maximize fees.
The case, Bickerstaff v. SunTrust Bank (Case No. 10EV010485), was filed in Georgia State Court of Fulton County. If you were a Georgia resident with a SunTrust Bank account and experienced overdrafts of $500 or less between July 12, 2006, and April 15, 2014, you may be eligible for $5 to $1,000 in compensation.
