Autobell Car Wash wrote to people in 2024 to say their personal information had been caught up in a data incident that April. If you got one of those letters, there is now a settlement and three separate things in it for you. Every class member can take two years of credit monitoring. On top of that you pick one of two cash routes. Documented out-of-pocket losses are reimbursed up to $5,000, covering things like bank fees, replacing a driver license and the cost of sorting out fraud, and you can add up to four hours of your own time at $25 an hour with a sworn statement explaining it. If you would rather not dig out paperwork, a flat $45 is the alternative, and taking it rules out the documented route. The case is Pauken v. Autobell Car Wash in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The class is people in the United States who were sent notice that their information was involved, so the letter is what decides it rather than how often you used the car wash. Claims close November 12, 2026.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible to file a claim if you:

  • Autobell sent you a notice. The class is people in the United States who were told their personal information was involved in the April 2024 data incident.
  • The letter decides it, not how often you used the car wash.
  • Credit monitoring needs no proof. Only the documented-loss route asks for paperwork.

How Much Can You Get?

Two years of credit monitoring is available to every class member, separately from the cash.

Then you pick one cash route. Documented unreimbursed losses are reimbursed up to $5,000 — bank and card fees, overdraft and returned-check charges, the cost of replacing a driver license or Social Security number. You can add up to four hours of your own time at $25 an hour, which needs a sworn statement setting out how the time was spent.

Or take $45 and skip the paperwork. The flat Alternative Cash Payment rules out the documented route, so it is one or the other.

How to File Your Claim

File with the administrator:

  • Decide which cash route fits. If your out-of-pocket losses beat $45 and you can evidence them, the documented route pays more. If not, the flat payment takes minutes.
  • Claim the credit monitoring either way. It does not cost you the cash payment.
  • File at autobelldatasettlement.com, online or by downloading the paper form and mailing it.
  • Claims close November 12, 2026.
  • The final approval hearing is November 9, 2026 at 832 East Fourth Street, Charlotte, North Carolina. Attendance is not required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline to file a claim for the Autobell Car Wash Data Breach Settlement?

The current deadline to file a claim is Nov 12, 2026. Claims sent by mail must be postmarked by this date, so allow about a week for delivery if you are not filing online.

How do I file a claim for the Autobell Car Wash Data Breach Settlement?

File directly with the settlement administrator, using the official claim form linked on this page. Class Action Buddy does not support this settlement in the app, so the administrator’s own claim process is the route. You do not need a Claimant ID or PIN to file.

Should I take the $45 or claim documented losses?

Take the $45 unless your documented out-of-pocket losses come to more than that, because the two are mutually exclusive. The documented route reimburses up to $5,000 but needs records.

Do I get credit monitoring as well as the cash?

Yes. Two years of credit monitoring is offered to every class member separately from whichever cash route you pick.

What counts as time spent?

Up to four hours at $25 an hour, on top of documented losses, and it needs a sworn statement explaining how the time related to the data incident.
