FCA US LLC (formerly Chrysler) has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit regarding defective EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) coolers in model year 2014-2019 Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks that could cause engine fires.

The case, Crawford, et al. v. FCA US LLC (Case No. 2:20-cv-12341-SJM-DRG), was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Owners and lessees of eligible trucks manufactured between June 12, 2013, and October 23, 2019, may receive warranty extensions, reimbursements, and cash payments of up to $3,575.

How Much Can You Get?

EGR cooler replacement warranty: Five-year coverage extension for parts and labor.

Out-of-pocket reimbursement: Up to $500 per truck for rental costs and up to $75 per truck for coolant costs from a pool of $750,000.

Engine fire claims: $3,000 for documented engine fires caused by failed EGR coolers.

Maximum individual award: up to $3,575 in total cash payments.
