LiveHealth Online is the telehealth service a lot of people reached through their health plan, and booking an appointment on it is the whole basis of this settlement. The lawsuit says American Well Corp., which runs it under the name Amwell, passed medical information and private messages to outside companies while people used the appointment booking tool. Amwell denies breaking any law and settled to end the case. The claims run under the Federal Wiretap Act, two California privacy statutes covering electronic interception and medical confidentiality, and the state constitution. The case is Polk v. American Well Corp. in Sacramento County Superior Court. Amwell is putting up $2,037,751.46. That money also pays the lawyers, the cost of running the settlement and an award to the person who brought it, so what reaches claimants is the remainder divided evenly. The administrator puts a share at somewhere around $51 to $102, and the real figure depends on how many people file. You need no receipts and no records. The qualifying window is narrow though: it covers people who used the booking tool between October 2024 and August 2025. Claims close October 30, 2026.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible to file a claim if you:

  • You used the appointment booking tool. Not the site generally — the booking tool specifically, on livehealthonline.com or in the LiveHealth Online app on iPhone or Android.
  • Between October 2024 and August 2025. That window is the whole class definition. Use outside it is not covered.
  • Anywhere in the United States. The claims lean on California statutes because that is where the case was filed, but the class is nationwide.
  • No receipts, no records, no proof of anything. The claim form is the whole requirement.

How Much Can You Get?

The fund is $2,037,751.46. Attorneys’ fees, the cost of notifying people, the cost of running the settlement and an award to the person who brought the case all come out of that same pot. What is left is split evenly between everyone whose claim is approved.

The administrator estimates roughly $51 to $102 a person. That is the settlement’s own figure, not ours, and it is a range because the final number depends on how many people file. More claims means a smaller share each.

You get paid by check unless you ask for something else. PayPal and Venmo are both options on the claim form. Checks go void 180 days after they are issued, so bank it when it arrives.

Nobody is paid until the court gives final approval, and then it is about 45 days after that, longer if anyone appeals. The approval hearing is set for January 15, 2027.

How to File Your Claim

File with the administrator:

  • Check the dates first. If you booked through LiveHealth Online outside October 2024 to August 2025, this settlement is not yours, however much you used the service.
  • File online at livehealthonlinesettlement.com. The administrator recommends it over post, and the form takes a few minutes.
  • Or print the paper form from the same site and mail it, if you would rather not file online.
  • Pick how you want paying. Check is the default. PayPal and Venmo are on the form if you want the money faster.
  • Everything closes October 30, 2026. Claiming, opting out and objecting all share that date.
  • The final approval hearing is January 15, 2027, in Department 8A of the Sacramento Superior Court. You do not have to attend to be paid.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline to file a claim for the LiveHealth Online (Amwell) $2M Data Privacy Settlement?

The current deadline to file a claim is Oct 30, 2026. Claims sent by mail must be postmarked by this date, so allow about a week for delivery if you are not filing online.

Do I need proof of purchase for the LiveHealth Online (Amwell) $2M Data Privacy Settlement?

No proof of purchase is required — you can typically file based on a sworn statement, without receipts, photos, or product packaging. You also do not need a Claimant ID or PIN to file.

How do I file a claim for the LiveHealth Online (Amwell) $2M Data Privacy Settlement?

File directly with the settlement administrator, using the official claim form linked on this page. Class Action Buddy does not support this settlement in the app, so the administrator’s own claim process is the route. You do not need a Claimant ID or PIN to file.

Do I need proof that I used LiveHealth Online?

No. There is nothing to attach. The claim form is all the settlement asks for, which is unusual for a privacy case and is the main reason it is worth a few minutes of your time.

How much will I actually get?

The administrator estimates about $51 to $102 per person. It is a range rather than a figure because the money is divided evenly among approved claims, so the more people who file, the smaller each share. Anyone quoting you one exact number is guessing.

I used LiveHealth Online, but not for booking. Am I covered?

Only use of the appointment booking tool counts, on the website or in either mobile app, and only between October 2024 and August 2025. The class is defined that narrowly.

What is this case actually about?

The lawsuit claims Amwell passed customers’ medical information and private communications to third parties without permission, under the Federal Wiretap Act and California privacy and medical-confidentiality law. Amwell denies breaking any law and settled to end the case rather than keep litigating it.

When would the money actually arrive?

About 45 days after the court grants final approval, and later if anyone appeals. The hearing is scheduled for January 15, 2027, so this is not quick money.
