Subscription Service Class Action Settlements: 2026 Guide
By Timo Bakker · July 6, 2026 · 5 min read
Subscription businesses face class actions constantly over auto-renewal disclosures, cancellation friction, and price increases. If you have a subscription that renews automatically, you may qualify for one or more settlements.
Recent subscription class actions
- Streaming services: Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, Disney+ have all faced auto-renewal disclosure lawsuits (varies by state law).
- Meal kits: HelloFresh, Blue Apron, Home Chef facing UDAP violations in California and elsewhere.
- Fitness apps: Peloton, Apple Fitness+, and various fitness apps have paid settlements over cancellation practices.
- News/magazine subscriptions: NYT, WSJ, WaPo have faced auto-renewal cases.
- VPN and security software: Multiple cases over auto-renewal without clear consent.
Am I eligible?
If you had any subscription that auto-renewed without a clear reminder / standalone disclosure and you are in a state with strong auto-renewal law (California, New York, Vermont, Colorado are among the strictest), you likely qualify.
