Hire Velocity Data Breach Settlement
By the Class Action Buddy Editorial Team · Last reviewed November 3, 2026
Forty dollars, no receipts, no documentation, and the lawyers are not taking a cut of it. That combination is rare enough in a data breach settlement to be worth saying plainly.
Hire Velocity recruits on behalf of other companies, so the people hit by its February 17, 2025 intrusion are a mix of its own staff, contractors and candidates who applied through it. What the attackers reached was narrow and bad: first and last names, paired with Social Security numbers. Nothing else, which is small comfort, because that pair is the one combination that opens a credit account.
You pick one cash option. Either $40 flat with nothing to prove, or up to $2,000 if you can document losses that trace back to the breach. On top of whichever you choose, you can also claim two years of three bureau credit monitoring with a dark web scan and $1 million of insurance.
The fees sit outside the class benefits, so nobody's $40 shrinks to pay for them. Claims close November 30, 2026.

Who Is Eligible?
You may be eligible to file a claim if you:
- You live in the United States and Hire Velocity sent you written notice that your private information may have been compromised, around February 2025.
- The incident was on or about February 17, 2025, when someone gained unauthorized access to company systems and files.
- What was exposed was narrow: first and last names together with Social Security numbers. Nothing else, which sounds reassuring until you notice that is precisely the pair needed to open credit in someone else’s name.
- Employees, contractors and clients are all in scope. Hire Velocity recruits on behalf of other companies, so people who merely applied for a job through it can be affected.
How Much Can You Get?
Pick one cash option:
Cash Payment B: a flat $40, no documentation required. Nothing to prove and nothing to dig out of a filing cabinet.
Cash Payment A: up to $2,000 for out-of-pocket losses arising from the incident, with reasonable documentation.
Then add credit monitoring to whichever you chose. Two years, three-bureau monitoring, a single-bureau credit report, comprehensive dark web monitoring, a Social Security number scan, high-risk transaction monitoring with real-time alerts, a security freeze and $1 million of insurance cover. It is claimed in addition to the cash, not instead of it.
The fees do not come out of your payment. Hire Velocity pays class member benefits, administration costs and any court-awarded fees. Class counsel is asking for $185,000 in fees and costs, plus $4,000 for each of the three class representatives, and those amounts are paid separately from settlement class member benefits. There is no common fund being divided, so a high claim rate does not shrink the $40.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the deadline to file a claim for the Hire Velocity Data Breach Settlement?
The current deadline to file a claim is Nov 30, 2026. Claims sent by mail must be postmarked by this date, so allow about a week for delivery if you are not filing online.
Do I need proof of purchase for the Hire Velocity Data Breach Settlement?
No proof of purchase is required — you can typically file based on a sworn statement, without receipts, photos, or product packaging. You also do not need a Claimant ID or PIN to file.
How do I file a claim for the Hire Velocity Data Breach Settlement?
File directly with the settlement administrator, using the official claim form linked on this page. Class Action Buddy does not support this settlement in the app, so the administrator’s own claim process is the route. You do not need a Claimant ID or PIN to file.
Do I really need no proof for the $40?
Correct. Cash Payment B is an alternate cash payment of $40 and the settlement states no documentation is required. You only need documents if you take the other route and claim up to $2,000 in out-of-pocket losses instead.
Will the $40 get smaller if lots of people claim?
No. There is no capped common fund here being split pro rata. Hire Velocity pays the benefits, the administration and the court-awarded fees, and the $185,000 fee request sits outside class member benefits. A $40 claim is $40.
I only applied for a job through them and never got hired.
You can still be in the class. The incident reached files belonging to employees, contractors and clients, and a recruiter holds Social Security numbers from candidates it never placed. The test is whether Hire Velocity sent you a written notice.
