Read the March 8, 2027 date carefully, because it is not what it looks like. It is the deadline to be included in the first distribution. The attorneys general running this program say plainly that late claims may still be considered for future distributions, which makes this one of the few settlements where missing the date is a setback rather than the end.

The reason is that the fund is still filling. Forty-eight state attorneys general sued a long list of generic manufacturers for fixing prices, and the ones who have settled so far are Citron, Mayne Pharma, Ascend, Sandoz, Fougera, Glenmark, Apotex, Heritage, Emcure, Bausch Health and Lannett. The cases continue against roughly twenty others, including Teva, Mylan, Pfizer and Dr. Reddy's, and money from any future settlement goes into the same pot for later distribution.

One claim form covers all of it. You are eligible if you bought a covered generic prescription drug in the United States between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019.

Worth knowing: this is not the same claim as the $533 million end-payer class action. Different website, different form, different deadline. If you qualify, you file both.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible to file a claim if you:

  • You bought a covered generic prescription drug in the United States or certain territories at any time between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019.
  • The drug has to be on the list. The portal carries a Drug List page, and that is the thing to check first — this covers specific generics named in the litigation rather than every generic you have ever taken.
  • Settling manufacturers so far: Citron, Mayne Pharma, Ascend, Sandoz, Fougera, Glenmark, Apotex, Heritage, Emcure, Bausch Health US and Lannett.
  • Still being litigated against around twenty others including Teva, Mylan, Pfizer, Dr. Reddy’s, Amneal, Aurobindo, Lupin, Perrigo, Sun, Taro, Upsher-Smith and Zydus. Any money from those goes into the same fund.
  • This is not about drug safety. The attorneys general state the lawsuits do not question the safety or efficacy of any drug. The allegation is price fixing.

How Much Can You Get?

A pro rata share of a growing fund. The attorneys general created a single Settlement Fund that collects money from current and future settlements. Roughly $96.5 million has come in from Apotex, Heritage, Lannett, Bausch and Glenmark, with the Sandoz, Fougera and Citron/Mayne/Ascend settlements alongside.

Nothing is paid out yet. Distribution happens later, under a Plan of Allocation, and only after the required court approvals. There is no published per-person estimate, and any figure you see quoted is somebody’s guess.

March 8, 2027 is the first-distribution cutoff, not a bar. The program’s own wording is that only signed, valid claims submitted by the deadline will be included in an initial distribution, though late claims may be considered for future distributions. That is unusual and it is the single most useful thing to know here.

How to File Your Claim

File with the administrator:

  • One claim form covers every settlement in the program. File online at aggenericdrugs.com. The claims process opened on September 22, 2026.
  • File by March 8, 2027 to be in the initial distribution.
  • Check the Drug List first. It is a separate page on the portal and it decides whether you have a claim at all.
  • Opt-out and objection dates differ per settlement, because each was approved on its own schedule: Glenmark closed October 15, 2026; Sandoz closes December 29, 2026; Citron, Mayne and Ascend close January 6, 2027. Approval hearings run from November 2026 through January 2027 in the District of Connecticut.
  • You can register for future notices on the site or by calling 1-866-290-0182, which is worth doing given more defendants are expected to settle.
  • The litigation is pending in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline to file a claim for the State Attorneys General Generic Drug Consumer Settlement?

The current deadline to file a claim is Mar 08, 2027. Claims sent by mail must be postmarked by this date, so allow about a week for delivery if you are not filing online.

How do I file a claim for the State Attorneys General Generic Drug Consumer Settlement?

File directly with the settlement administrator, using the official claim form linked on this page. Class Action Buddy does not support this settlement in the app, so the administrator’s own claim process is the route. You do not need a Claimant ID or PIN to file.

Is this the same as the $533 million generic drug settlement?

No, and this trips a lot of people. The end-payer class action is a separate case with its own website, its own claim form and its own deadline. This one is the program run by the state attorneys general. If you qualify for both, you file both.

What if I miss March 8, 2027?

You lose your place in the initial distribution, which is the first and probably largest payout. The attorneys general say late claims may still be considered for future distributions, because more defendants are expected to settle and feed the same fund. Missing the date is a setback rather than the end, but there is no reason to rely on that.

I cannot remember what generics I took in 2012.

Pharmacy records are the practical answer, and most chains can print a dispensing history going back years on request. Check that against the Drug List on the portal before you spend time on the form.

Does it matter that I paid a copay rather than full price?

Consumers who paid for covered generic drugs are the intended beneficiaries of this program, which exists precisely because purchasers may have paid more than they should have. Read the long-form notices on the Documents page for how your own purchases are treated, and call 1-866-290-0182 if your situation is unusual.
