CertainTeed LLC has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging its Horizon brand asphalt fiberglass roofing shingles were defective and failed prematurely, causing property damage.
The case, Segebarth, et al. v. CertainTeed LLC (Case No. 2:19-cv-05500-PD), was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. If you own a building with CertainTeed Horizon shingles installed between 1995 and 2010, you may be eligible for reimbursement of $40 per square foot for replaced roof areas, prorated based on installation date.
You may be eligible to file a claim if you:
Partial replacement: Compensation for damage covering less than 5% of roof plane.
Complete replacement: Compensation for larger damage amounts.
Reimbursement rate: $40 per square foot for replaced roof areas, prorated based on how long the shingles were installed.
Warranty extension: Five additional years (25 to 30 years for 1995-2003 installations; 30 to 35 years for 2004-2010 installations).
