Why do some settlements require specific states?
Because they rely on state-specific consumer-protection laws (e.g., California's CLRA, Massachusetts's 93A). The class definition is limited to residents of states whose laws support the underlying claim. Federal cases sometimes still have state restrictions for similar reasons.
What if I'm not sure I bought the product?
Don't file if you're genuinely uncertain. The attestation requires good-faith truthful reporting. But if you recall buying it at some point during the class period — even without exact dates — that's usually enough.
Can I qualify if I'm a renter, not a homeowner?
