Missouri’s own consumer protection law
Class actions are almost always federal or multi-state, so living in Missouri rarely decides whether you can claim from a settlement. Where it can matter is when the claim rests on Missouri’s own statute.
Missouri Merchandising Practices Act (Mo. Rev. Stat. § 407.020). It makes it unlawful to use “deception, fraud, false pretense, false promise, misrepresentation, unfair practice or the concealment, suppression, or omission of any material fact” in connection with the sale or advertisement of merchandise in Missouri — which is broader than common-law fraud, because a material omission is enough and intent to deceive is not required.
