Oklahoma’s own consumer protection law
Class actions are almost always federal or multi-state, so living in Oklahoma rarely decides whether you can claim from a settlement. Where it can matter is when the claim rests on Oklahoma’s own statute.
Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act (15 O.S. § 753). It enumerates the unlawful practices a person commits “in the course of the person’s business,” beginning with representing “knowingly or with reason to know” that the subject of a consumer transaction is of a particular make or brand when it is of another. Reason to know is enough; actual knowledge is not required.
