Wyoming’s own consumer protection law
Class actions are almost always federal or multi-state, so living in Wyoming rarely decides whether you can claim from a settlement. Where it can matter is when the claim rests on Wyoming’s own statute.
Wyoming Consumer Protection Act (Wyo. Stat. § 40-12-105). A person commits a deceptive trade practice when, in the course of business and in connection with a consumer transaction, they “knowingly” do any of the listed things — starting with representing that merchandise has a source, origin, sponsorship, approval, accessories or uses it does not have. Wyoming requires knowledge, so an honest mistake is outside the Act.
