Wisconsin’s own consumer protection law

It targets what a business says to make a sale: no person may, “with intent to sell, distribute, increase the consumption of or in any wise dispose of any real estate, merchandise, securities, employment, service, or anything offered,” make an untrue or misleading representation to the public. Employment offers and securities sit inside the statute alongside ordinary goods.
No action may be commenced more than three years after the unlawful act or practice (Wis. Stat. § 100.18(11)(b)3).
